How the WhatsApp waitlist works
A guest joins the public waitlist from a link or QR code. The host sees the party in the dashboard, manages its status and sends a table-ready notification when a place opens. WhatsApp is one possible channel, subject to messaging configuration, destination coverage and provider delivery. The guest does not need to install a StoveOps app to join.
Before service, open the public link while signed out, add an approved test party and send an update to an approved test contact. Check the recorded delivery status. A queued send is not proof that the message arrived. If it fails, the host needs a phone or in-person fallback.
Questions and changes need another route
StoveOps does not display inbound WhatsApp replies in the host queue. Do not ask a guest to reply to the alert for a change your staff will not see there. Give guests a separate staffed route to ask for more time, correct their party size or cancel. The host should update the queue after receiving the request.
Use short messages with the restaurant name and a clear next step. Operational waitlist updates and marketing campaigns serve different purposes; review consent and messaging rules for the guest’s destination. For wording and channel trade-offs, see the SMS versus WhatsApp guide and SMS message templates.
Plans and message allowances
Basic includes one store and 500 SMS or WhatsApp messages per month. Professional covers up to three stores and 2,000 messages. Business covers up to ten stores and 5,000 messages, and includes reservations. Professional and Business allow unused included messages to roll over for up to three months. Email messages are unlimited on these plans.
Count your expected notifications and any other billable messages, then check current pricing, overage and trial terms. Channel and destination availability must be confirmed for your location; a published allowance does not guarantee every destination is available. The seven-day trial requires a card at checkout and is a chance to test your own service workflow.
If most guests prefer ordinary texts, compare the restaurant SMS waitlist. If you need a broader shortlist, the restaurant waitlist apps guide explains how to evaluate messaging, host handoff and total cost without assuming replies are managed in every product.
